Effective: July 21,
2000
FTPC Committee
Policy
All students will be assigned a University email address and will be expected
to read their email daily so they are kept informed of current University
events, dates for submitting materials, etc.
It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of and to read all University
correspondences sent to the student’s University email address by CMU faculty
and administration.
Rationale
CMU is very committed to increasing its interactions with students and improving
strategies for conveying important information. This policy will enhance the
ability of faculty and administrative offices to send official and
course-related information to students via email with minimal barriers.
Guidelines
The University recognizes that students may choose to use non
University-provided email systems (such as Hotmail or Yahoo); however, students
still will be responsible for setting up the University provided email system.
Students who choose to forward their CMU email to another system will need to
coordinate these systems. The IT Web site and the IT Help Desk can provide
directions on how to set up email forwarding. We believe this new policy will
increase student awareness of important dates and events.
Please contact the IT Help Desk for details on
setting up your email forwarding at (989) 774-3662.
