What is the CMU Portal?
MyCmich is an internal portal or intranet that allows CMU students,
faculty and staff quick access to the type of information that
relates directly to their needs. It is the cyber point of entry to
information and online services at CMU. Whether it is campus events,
news releases, links to favorite websites or student account and billing or
course registration – it is all in MyCmich – and more features and customization
options are being added all the time!
Important!
- Please be aware that the portal is only accessible via Internet Explorer 6.0 and higher and Firefox on a pc, or Firefox and Safari
on a mac.
- Also, you must enable cookies and pop-ups from the portal. For more help on how to do this,
please go to the Portal and click on 'help'.

What is the purpose of the Portal?
The CMU Portal will be the single web platform for the integrated delivery of information, services and online
collaboration tools to the University community. The primary goals of the CMU Portal include:
- Providing a single sign-on environment for all internal University resources.
- Providing increased web access and self-service capabilities.
- Increasing availability of and access to campus computing systems.
- Delivering personalized content to each portal user in a quick and efficient manner.
- Providing a level of technological services that meet the ever-growing expectations of students, faculty, and staff.
- Enhancing teaching, learning and research through the delivery of integrated resources and tools.
- Providing tools for building strong community connections and collaboration with and among all stakeholders of the University.
- Improving collaboration across departments and user groups in an online, real-time environment.
Who will use the CMU Portal?
The CMU Portal is for all current students, faculty and staff. Audiences have been designed to deliver
content based on the user group of the person accessing the portal. Only persons with global id's will have access
to this information.
Students will be the primary users of the portal at it's launch, as they will use it to register
for courses, drop/add, pay bills - any functionality previously performed using the retired OASIS or STAR systems.
How and when will the Portal be introduced to the campus?
When the Campus Management project goes live (July 5 2006), any student, employee or alumni with a global id can access the portal via
https://portal.cmich.edu/.
Communications are being sent to incoming freshmen with the portal address, while press-releases and email announcements will go out to all current students and employees.
As student-focused functionality is fine-tuned, more services will be added to target faculty collaboration and faculty/staff employee self-service applications.
